Strings

Big B got me a guitar and guitar lessons for Christmas. My vain hope is that I will be better at this stringed instrument than I was, at, say, the cello.
When Bster took this pic, I was playing Brick,by Ben Folds Five. Don't get too excited, apparently it's like the easiest song to play. But still. I am playing (something other than anorexia, cackle cackle). I'm soaking in my potential wondefulness right now.

My street cred has (once again!) been raised a couple notches, because guitar players are like the coolest people I don't know, and I am feeling good, because I’m hardcore, and I've decided to try it on for size and play with it a little. Look at me. Look at the hardcoreness! Bask in it, baby.

don't let the giant pretzel bag in the pic detract from my hardcoreness. i hear ozzy osbourne eats those by the bagfuls! me so funny.

Heck yes lady! totally hardcore! I got one a few years back and I think I can play a total of maybe 3 songs, on a good day. I think I need to dust the ol' lady off and give her a good play when I get home.

Good for you, gal! Rock it 'til your fingers bleed... And then slap on some band-aides, and get to it again! Way to live "hardcore."

I'm totally going to get my rock on! yeah and L, my fingers are killing me, but i'm still going to go pick that puppy up (I still have of yet to pick a name for her) and jam and jam and play Brick over and over, lol. ;)

xo to all of you

Good for you! I was never able to excel at guitar, but definitely did find it helpful in depression and eating disorder recovery. Don't forget to have fun while you're at it!

Baby, you have made good and fast progresso. I am a proud teacher. PS, you do have a terrible teacher, so even more props to you for your excellence thus far.

I admire you for playing through the finger pain - I gave up before I ever made it through that stage. Go Brie!

my fingies are killing me from being a Virgin Guitarist, but my guitar's name, i've decided, is francesca. she's a real beaut!

I first read that as "Big B On the Guitar" right above your picture and thought, 'Ive gone away for a few days and she's somehow become her husband?!" and then I focused and it made more sense.

Brick & Ben Folds are so good. Mike can play the piano part of Brick. He loves Ben Folds and took me to see him in concert...and c'mon, Ben Folds is pretty awesome. So I dont care if that's the easiest song ever, I'm giving you major kudos for playing a Ben Folds song! [PS If you dont know the Ben Folds song 'I paid my money' PLEASE look it up. It isnt guitar...capable...but it might make you...CACKLE!! ;)]

Okay: Lame, long comment...but Ive been away and wanted to drop a line [or 40]. Keep strummin', lady!

I had so much fun learning how to play guitar. Good luck. Also, I'm musically addicted...it's sorta my thing. So i wanted to recommend this song by Thao Nguyen called "Feet Asleep" It literally gives me goosebumps ever.single.time.
Enjoy,
Em.
