I had an interesting comment left on my previous post today.
It was quite negative.
And, well, I've never really had one of those to deal with before. And that doesn't necessarily upset me. What upsets me is the fact that he/she chose to cower behind anonymity in the comment, and that galls me. If you're going to challenge me (or anyone else for that matter), at least have the backbone to put your name out there and stand behind it, you know? I'm putting my heart and soul and funny bone out there for the entire internet world to see, and I do it willingly, not shamefully.
You do not have to agree with me. I think it great to have your own ideas and opinions, and I never mind a good debate every once in awhile. But don’t remain nameless, too scared to claim the responsibility for the waves you cause. Standing for what you believe in means so much more when you put your name behind it. I’ll respect you more.
So please, please, leave comments on my blog, for I know many read my blog that do not. But I’ve made a few adjustments, and anonymous comments can no longer be left on my blog. I give you my name, and you give me yours. That's the rule. If you do not like this idea, then do not leave me ill-founded and ignorant comments.
Okay, done being a megabitch. But damn, it felt good!

in response to your email- no, not too bitchy at all. what was wrong with throwing a little humor and sarcasm into something that was seriously traumatic event for every hummingbird, barbie doll, and beached whale forced to participate in it? the way i see it, it was a hella hard thing to do and the only way we got through it sometimes was to hide behind that sarcasm so we didn't break into tears and so what's wrong with you writing the truth of what was really going through your mind at the time? screw whoever didn't have the balls to own up to their comment. it's fine to disagree, but must they be so passive aggressive about it? i've said it numerous times on my blog, if you don't like what i have to say, don't read MY blog! i personally love reading these posts because its a twisted way of looking at past memories that suddenly makes them less scary than they were when i was living through it. they're honest, and witty, and in that brie style of writing that i adore. it's your blog brie and you never need to apologize for saying things the way you want to say them. i'm behind you 110%. ps...i'm totally not the bitchface. if i was i would have definitely put my name with the comment and looked forward to brawling it out with you in the very near future! haha i loves it and i loves you. peace out-
Brava! Good for you. I agree with the no anonymity policy.
ps- sorry about mrs. peterson
Hi Brie. I haven't commented before, but I found your blog a while ago through Jana. I really like reading :-

you go girl- maybe, just maybe, we will see each other next week sometime? or whateva
I'm glad you made the no-anonymity adjustment. I'd do that, but there are some of my friends who read and post comments under anonymous and leave their name. Anywho, I don't think your post was bitchy. I don't think your decision was bitchy, either. And I think that your Behind Bars series is incredible and that you should keep it up for as long as you feel comfortable doing so! :) Love you!
Hey, ignore what I said about not updating for four days. I figured out how to get around the cookies problem.
i'm not the bitchface. and i love your blogs. seriously, humor is the only way you can face some of the things we've gone through. some people choose to pretend they are all better and have never had to face some of the events that they have. but to be able to make people aware, and how we think while we're there. i just love them.
you rock. you have major cojones mi hermana!
I love the sarcasm. You have to escape SUCKY reality any way you can.
Seems like someone is hiding behind anonymitity like we hid behind out EDs.
hmmmmm. How ironic.
The same thing happened to another friend of mine recently...so I stopped allowing anon comments too. Sorry someone's such a jerk :-(
Thanks everyone for your support on this. And really, I hope anonymous out there doesn't think I hate her/him, because how can I hate someone I don't know? I really don't mind a debate or a differing opinion, but like I said, I found it upsetting (and really, a bit chicken) they chose to hide behind anonymity. But forgive and forget, right? ;)
hey brie...check out my comment from the body tracings one...that is my response to anonymous
peace and love you more than a cucumber loves ranch.
