Grateful Gratitude is GREAT

I was inspired from Krista’s blog (I’d give you the link but the dear has it set to private) to do another why gratefuls are awesome post so that I can focus on the super and not the sucky. I mean, I truly believe that for me humor is how I get through the yucky in life. It’s not for everyone, and I think sometimes people read my posts and wonder how I can crack jokes about a yummy – nay, delicious – doc when he was considering admitting me, etc, but it’s easier for me to do that rather than cry and wallow. And I’m not saying crying is bad. Or wallowing. Because I certainly do my fair share, just not on my blog. At least, not often. Things are weird for me right now, and this whole situaish is getting yawningly long and drawn out (that’s what she said) so I’m just going to think about why life is rad to forget about why it reeks for a bit:

*I have a flower in my hair. And though it only cost me $4, I feel like $100,000.01!!
*Lil C cracks me up. When I went to therapy yesterday, I was in the waiting room waiting for my madre to come and watch C while I went to bear my heart and soul. C kept saying, “Go away Mama, go talk to the lady!” He knows that when I “go talk to the lady,” he gets some serious Grandma time. But then, because my mom has stellar babysitting skills, while she was talking on the phone, C started banging on the door, yelling, “Mama, let me in! Let’s go!”
*Not to mention his haircut. My little boy just went from 2 years old to 22. He looks so old now and (dare I say?) DELICIOUS!
*For some reason stores that sell really cheap items (think Walmart, Kohl’s) always make me need to go potty while perusing their merchandise. And while I entirely realize this is TMI, I was just really pleased with my little bathroom adventure/emergency at Kohl’s - though I did run out before anyone saw me. Not eating or drinking enough or whatever can really mess things up down there. Nothing a good trip to ShopKo can’t fix.
*We finally found a realllllly awesome house to move into. Go 2 car garage and fenced in yard!
*My new hobby has become stick figures and the Paint program. Stay tuned.
*National Stay at Home Week IS ON. Love the premieres of all the smutty shows I watch on TV! Still have DH on my DVR, but finished Grey’s last night. Pretty sure had love palpitations when I saw Denny in the elevator (K squared, you were right!) but reallllly wished he had come back to life like Lazarus or whatever. I mean, it’s TV! Heeelllll-ooooo. You can do anything! Lame lame lamazoid.
*Racher directed me to this website that shows the 15 fattest cats ever documented all over the world. Here’s a little taste to whet your whistle, but peruse the entire site, it’ll totally hit your spot. Holy oh my moly I honestly had no idea cats could get that big. I mean, I thought Bobbi was the 8th wonder of the world, but here's this Maine Coone totally kicking her trash. Bobbi's not that big. YET.
*Pretty sure I love all you guys (well, actually, mostly GIRLS) in the blogosphere. Who knew such cool people besides me and my besties actually existed? Love it (AND YOU)!!!!

that's what she said.

In other news, glad to hear about your new place. Where is it? I can come visit, yes?

holy shit. letting that cat meet such gargantuan proportions has got to be considered animal abuse or something! that poor cat!

Oh deary I love the "that's what she said" joke above! I'm glad I could inspire you and really the only reason my blog is privet-o is to keep out family members. Perhaps that is twisted I don't know, but anyone is welcome to email me if they want an invite. That cat is like a wild animal or something.I didn't know it was felinely (like humanly only for felines) possible to get that big. That C is too funny. I love the things kids say!

Holy fat cat! My first inclination is to ask 'can that thing possibly be healthy?!' But then I remember Alice and how she tried to teach me that health can come in all shapes and sizes...
Obviously, she hasn't seen this picture. Think that cat is a canidate for CFC admission?

Niece o mine, that might be the.best.ever.that's what she said joke! LOVE IT! And yes of course you will visit my new abode, and often. In fact, I daresay you will most definitely be cleaning the bathrooms for me - at least at first - cuz they're a wee bit icky. I will reward you handsomely, of course!

Brie love, the post, love you. That cat is outrageously huge. Love your flower in your hair. Miss you and little C man. Need to come hang out. We never had our night of WHAT IF....what the H...love you

hey if cute little hair flowers make you happy I could send you a bunch and they would cost me way less than 4 dollars each to make... I could do a handful (or more) for that much. Having a little girl has given me much practice in the hair pretty making department.

Stace Face, for real? I would love some preeettty flowers! I contemplated making some for myself, but hadn't the faintest idea where to start and promptly gave up such a ludicrous idea. :)

I love your perspective on life. Could you send me a little? : )

I think I might steal your idea, and the one you stole it from as well, and make a list of what I was grateful for today.

I love reading your stuff! And you never did explain how you did those stick figures? What is paint program? Did you have to download it?

a new house! yayness! flowers! yay! fat cats! yay!

H, the Paint program is on every PC. If you go to the start menu, you'll find it under applications. mess around with it a bit; for the most part, it's pretty easy to get a handle on.

so here are some little examples of some I made for babies.
http://goodsellandgoodsell.blogspot.com/2008/07/this-and-that.html

if you want to try you own first.
get your loverly little craft flowers (in the scrapbooking section of your local craft store)
get some little alligator clips(local beauty supply store)
assemble the flowers for cuteness as you see fit.
hot glue to said clip.
then glue either button or jewel to center of flower for the finished look.
and when you have your baby girl someday you can just chop the ends off some knee highs and fasten the ends together and wrap around the fastened part with a little ribbon and clip the flower on then mommy and baby can share. (i used knee high to make 3 of the 4 head bands in the picture.

I know that was long but alas... I don't have your email.

and if you want I will still send you some. I need to get into practice making them again since another baby girlie is invading my home soon (currently making herself VERY comfy in my ribs)

Punk, was it the thong?

brie said...

I wanna hear the thong slash Kmart story! Was it you who single-handedly traumatized them into going out of business??

Laura said...

yup. the thong.awful awful story. That will have to be a personal e mail to you Brie.

When are thongs NOT trouble, I ask?

That cat is crazy huge.

Stace Face, thanks for the flower tips. I'm going to go to the craft store and pick up some stuff today. I can't believe I'm doing this; stepping into a craft store usually makes me pretty nauseous - SO NOT a crafty person, you know? I'll keep you posted on this endeavor!

L, I totally get the whole you need to email me thing. If it makes you feel any better, I have a horribly humiliating moment regarding a thong too. And, I guarantee you it'll beat you in the embarrassment factor. It's a real doozy.

ps I totally think you should use that flower pic of you as part of your blog title picture
