New House Adventure Week 20

Our house is darn near finished - there are a few touches, here and there, that need to be completed, but today they are doing the deep clean of the house, and other than that, pretty much everything is done, aside from a few things on the outside of the house that remain to be finished.

We have the final walk-through of the house next Wednesday, and then we close on Friday.  As in, A WEEK FROM TODAY.  As in, MY DREAMS ARE COMING TRUE.  As in, IT IS SOON AND I'M EXCITED AND I CAN'T WAIT!!!

And then Monday the 30th, provided all goes as planned (crossing my fingers) and the loan goes through (crossing my toes) we move in.  I WILL BE IN MY NEW HOUSE 10 DAYS FROM NOW.

AAAHHHHH!

Here are a few random pics.  Didn't do a super cohesive and thorough job of taking them, but I managed to get a few:

The subway tile backsplash with our beautiful granite and cupboards.  It looks amazing!

All of our appliances are stainless steel, so it looks really good.  :)

Another view of the kitchen, which is pretty much my favorite part of the house.  Our builders have been bringing prospective homebuyers in from everywhere to tour our house because they love how we decorated the kitchen and want others to see it.  Since I am the Ultimate Novice Decorator, I am flattered!

Our carpet is in!

Another view of the kitchen...

The powder room.  I'm going to add some color to this room because it looks so blah.

Kid's bathroom.  I'm decorating their bathroom in orange and teal.

A view of the master bath.  They were working on it so there are tools and stuff around, but you get the idea.

The back patio and stairs.

The master bathroom floor that they fixed - it was originally wrong, remember?

Our pretty wood floor looks so great with the kitchen and carpet.

The outside of the house.  It is ALMOST complete, but there are still a few finishing touches to be added...

Yay! I have been waiting for this post. I have a lot of questions for you. What color is your subway tile? Is it gray? I'm deciding what color on ours. I was originally going to go with white, but now I don't know. I love your board and batten. Is it just in your living room or did you put it in other places too? Did you guys go with hard wood or is it laminate? I'm debating on getting a high end laminate that looks like wood because I've heard it scratches less. Your wood floor color is fabulous by the way! I love the rustic look of it. I'm jealous that you get a craftsman style exterior. Our neighborhood has stupid covenants that require 80% stone or brick on the front and to do that much stone was hella expensive. I am totally in LOVE with your garage. Was it a lot more than a standard garage door? You'll have to let me know how you like stainless steel appliances with kiddos. I am debating between that and black cause I hate fingerprints, but I like the look of stainless better. Ok that's all. For now ;-) Congrats on moving in! So exciting for you guys!

krista, our subway tile is a dark gray color. and i LOVE it. our board and batten is also a love. we did it in our living room and in our mudroom. we went with actual hardwood vs. laminate, but they have some pretty nice looking laminates out there.

our garage door actually just came as is - with the crafstman choice, that was the garage it came with, but we are so glad because we love it!

i'll let you know about the stainless steel cleanage with kids. i'm sure i'll have to clean up smudges, but i do like the way it looks!

Brie, it is gorgeous!! I'm so jealous...our house is so tiny and oh, 50 years old or so. What I wouldn't give for that kitchen! And master bathroom!! Enjoy it, you deserve it!

Wow! That happened so fast! Do you have neighbors yet or are most of the lots still empty? We would love a house of our own, but here in the SF bay area, a little outdated shack can cost $800,000 to a million. And there are no such things as empty lots in SF, lol! I'm so not kidding. It's so depressing. But I am so excited for you! Can I live out my home dreams through you, lol? oh, and I love your reading nook area!
