I declare, "Never again!"

I went to my first ever Zumba class tonight.  I've actually heard really good things about it and wanted to give it a try, but I had some serious reservations about it, considering I am NOT a dancer.  Like, I'm not even close.  My dancing skills can be chalked up to doing the running man and some wicked pelvic thrusts - that's about it.  And I realllllly wanted to like it, guys.  I really did.

But I didn't.

It was HARD.  And confusing.  I'm not typically a slow person, but I couldn't get all the moves, so resorted to side-stepping like the reject kid in class that nobody likes and everybody feels bad for.  And the music!  It was like a bunch of rappers singing about getting some "mocha latte ass," which really...no thank you.  And my instructor was a 70 year old anorexic.  And most of the class was comprised of salsa dancing, and jiggling my butt is NOT one of my talents.  And really, I could go on.

So, exercise, yay!  Getting in shape forever!  BUT Zumba never!

Considering the idiot girl that was commenting, comment moderation seems like a good idea!

Hey I'm proud of you for trying zumba. I wouldn't have the balls to try it. No thanks!

Hi Brie;
I don't actually want you to publish this comment (though you can if you want, it's not that it's super top secret haha)....
anyway, I just wondered if you would send me your email address? I am really not one for putting myself out there in a public domain, mainly because I'm kinda shy and self-conscious.
I think your writing is amazing and it really and truly inspires me.
I think my email is sent with this comment...?
Anyway, send me your email address if you want :)
PS - your children are beautiful. absolutely beautiful.

I'm too scared to try Zumba.....good for you for giving it a try....lol. I would probably end up self-consciously giggling the entire time and be kicked out.

Zumba frightens me terribly. The closest I came to trying it was a four month cardio dance class that I went to twice. I basically just made my own steps up because it was so fast! Way to go for trying!!

I missed the comment fiasco, but I say, moderate if you need to. Also? You would never catch me in a zumba class. I couldn't master step aerobics (and oh, how I tried). Treadmill all the way (once they let you run more, of course!).

Oh! I so feel the same way! I totally love the wii fit version of it, because you don't have to shake your booty near the entrails of some other crazy.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I've tried Zumba a couple of times and I felt exactly like you! I was trying to shake my chest and my booty but they just didn't wanna move like that! I felt like everyone else was sweatin' balls and I spent the whole class trying to figure out WTF was going on! Not a good workout for me!
