Exercise!

Sweet sassy frassy!  I am so glad, because today my lung doc cleared me for exercise.  I have to start slow, but I can f i n a l l y start getting back in shape.  I used to be an avid runner, and would often run 12, 14 miles at a time, but when I started to relapse, that had to stop, of course.  So, it's been years since I last really exercised because I've had so many years of weight instability.  But, now that I'm at a healthy weight, I've been given the green light to go ahead and start running again.  (Well, I will as soon as my treatment team talks about it today.)

Anyone know any good couch to 5K programs?
I need to get some new workout clothes of course, because looking good while working out is always important. (I'm joking.  I'm NOT one of those people that work out in the gym with makeup and dangly earrings on.)
Anyone ever do zumba or kick-boxing at the gym?  Pros?  Cons?
Alright, now everyone be really excited for me!  ;)

I go to 24 hour fitness, and I did Zumba... I'm so out of shape, and around the end I felt as though I might vomit cuz I worked so hard. It is a lot of fun. I recommend trying it out at least once if you haven't. and you can push your self as hard or as little depending on how you feel. My mom is a Zumba addict... or she would be if there is such a thing. Good luck with the exercising. and remember to enjoy it no matter what you do.

ZUMBA! OMG. Totally amazing. That, and/or Anti-Gravity Yoga. Much easier on the lungs and totally great on the abs + legs (:

PS, your story about the Jeans was pretty grand.

hearts!

Several of my dog trainer friends have been using Cool Running's Couch to 5k program here: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/index.shtml

It may be a good way to transition back into exercise.

omg I researched some good 5k training schedules for my sis a month ago! What's your email address these days? (I don't think my last emails went through) I'll send it over. I've also gotten hooked on half marathons, maybe we can run one together. xoxo and congrats. I keep starting to comment but then I can't think of quite the right thing to say.

I agree with what Tiptoe said! I used to be on the cross country and track teams in high school, but stopped running for years. A few years ago, I got back into it using the Couch to 5k program from the coolrunning website, and it was really helpful because it paced my workouts so that I wasn't trying to run too far, too fast and getting frustrated at my lack of speed and endurance. When you USED to be a good runner, it's hard to switch down from that mindset and accept your current physical limitations, but having a good plan to follow helped me.

Brie do you know how I delete you from my reading list/following list? Because I'm definitely not following you nor do I want to read your blog anymore. We have nothing in common. But my blog won't let me remove you or any other blogs from my reading/following list. Thanks and take care.

I stumbled upon your blog awhile back and love it! :)
The cool runnings app is awesome, and what I used to get started into couch to 5K. They have a sister app once you finish called Bridge to 10K... both are awesome. Congrats on being cleared to start doing it again! As someone who has continually struggled with an ED it's nice to know that you're not alone in the recovery process. Running has really helped me throughout it all :)

Also- Target has awesome workout clothing-They are my go to for everything (besides running shoes of course!)

Kate, try looking at Blogger's Help Center rather than posting a rude question on Brie's blog.
